Lauretta Martin

Member of Many Organizations

Lauretta P. (Finlay) Martin of North Conway, NH, formerly of Chelsea, died on January 30. She was 87 years old.

She was a member of the Catholic Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, Chelsea Council 83, as well as the KOC Couples Club, the OLG Socialites and the MA Teacher’s Association.

The wife of the late Edward J. Martin, she was the beloved mother of Edward P. Martin of Lynn, John F. Martin and his wife, Edna, of Wilmington; dear sister of David Finlay and his wife, Kathleen, of Braintree, Virginia Day of Winchester and sister-in-law of the late Wayne Day. She is also lovingly survived by four grandchildren, Edward P. Martin Jr. of San Diego, Jennifer A. Guerin of New York, Jessica A. Martin of Cambridge and John J. Martin of Malden.

Her Funeral will be held from the William R. Carafa & Son Home For Funerals, 389 Washington Ave., Chelsea on Wednesday, February 3 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Our Lady of Grace Church, 59 Nichols St., Chelsea at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours in the funeral home will be today, Tuesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. For those who wish, donations in her memory may be made to the OLG Building Maintenance Fund, 59 Nichols St., Chelsea, MA 02150.

 

Frances Cahill

Member of Catholic Daughters and Revere Womens’ Club

Frances L. (Marshall) Cahill of Swampscott, formerly of Revere, died on January 26. She was 88 years old.

She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America-Maplewood Court and the Revere Women’s Club.

She was the wife of the late Charles R. Cahill; devoted mother Marie L. Farrell and Theresa J. Cahill, both of Lynn, and Joan F. Glancy and her husband, Jack, of Peabody; cherished grandmother of Jenna M. Glancy of Peabody; dear sister of Francis Marshall and his wife, Kathy, of Merriden, CT and is also lovingly survived by her aunt, Dorothea Marshall of Lynn.

Funeral arrangements were by the Vertuccio Home for Funerals, Revere. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Bertram House Staff Holiday Fund, Bertram House, 565 Humphrey Street, Swampscott, MA 01907.

 

Helen Walczak

Long time Head Cook at St. Michael’s Grammar School

Helen W. (Baranski) Walczak of Lynn died January 30 at Union Hospital after a brief illness. She was 93 years old.

Born in Lynn, the daughter of the late Stanislaw and Aniala (Szcechowicz) Baranski and the wife of the late Edward E. Walczak, she was the Head Cook at St. Michael’s Grammar School for many years. She was a member of St. Hedwig’s Society, St. Michael’s Retirees and a life long communicant of St. Michael’s Church.

She is survived by three sons, Robet E. and his wife, Rose Walczak, of Englewood, FL, Edward J. and his wife, Jean, and Paul S. and his wife, Theresa Walczak, all of Lynn and Elaine Gannon of Palm Springs, Florida; beloved grandmother of 11, great grandmother of 12; step grandmother of seven and step great grandmother of 15. She was the sister of the late Matthew Baranski.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Nadworny Funeral Home, 798 Western Avenue, Lynn on Thursday, February 4 at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Family Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. Those who wish may make donations to Childhood Leukemia Research, c/o of Mass. General Hospital, Boston, MA 02214.
