Retaining the rollback

City hall officials should think long and hard about restoring the hour that was lost for bar owners during the last administration.

The cutback has proven useful to law enforcement.

It has also enhanced the city’s reputation outside of our boundaries.

There are fewer accidents – and fewer drunken driving incidents as a result of the rollback in hours.

There are also fewer calls to the police.

Alcohol, wherever it is served, tends to cause problems.

The hour cutback reduced those problems.

Restoring the hour lost would be a step backward.
