Mildred Clements

Of Saugus, formerly of Chelsea

Mildred (Daniluk) Clements of Saugus, formerly of Chelsea, died on September 21.

She was the loving mother of Gerald Clements of Lynn, Edward Clements of Florida, Wayne Clements of Everett, Ralph Clements and Mark Clements of Saugus; beloved grandmother of nine and great grandmother of nine; sister of the late Walter Daniluk, Nicholas Daniluk and Kay Rogers. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Richard Locke, 82

Communications Industry Pioneer

Richard R. Locke of Dennis, formerly of Nahant, died peacefully at Cape Cod Hospital on July 9 after a brief illness. He was 82 years old.

He was surrounded by his loving family and his partner of 26 years, Marjorie Meaden. The couple spent the summers in Dennis and the winters in Florida. Mr. Locke enjoyed dancing and classical music and was an avid golfer and gourmet cook.

Born in Revere on May 18, 1928, he was the son of Henry and Alice Locke. He was a 1946 graduate of Revere High School and received his degree in Business Administration from Boston University.

Mr. Locke was a pioneer in the communications industry in Massachusetts. He funded AirCall Northeast, a telecommunications company which held one of the first cellular telephone licenses in the state. He would later own communication companies in Lawrence, MA, Nashua, NH and Miledgville, Georgia. He was an honorably discharged US Army veteran of World War II serving in Germany.

Mr. Locke is survived by his sister, Gloria, and her husband, Thomas O’Shea of Nahant. He was the brother of the late Patricia Age and Herman “Sunny” Locke. In addition to his partner, Marjorie Meaden, he leaves his former wife and the mother of his children, Lorraine H. Locke of Nahant; three daughters, the Honorable Judith H. Locke and her husband, David Chenail, of Williamstown, MA, Deborah Locke and her husband, Arthur Daltoon of Lugoff, SC and Lori Kirby and her husband, James, of Swampscott; three sons, Michael Locke and his wife, Deborah, of North Truro, Richard M. Locke and his wife, Jodi Szcepaniak-Locke of Pittsfield, MA and Joseph M. Locke and his wife, Kathy, of Nahant. He was the father of the late Christpher Locke of Provincetown. Mr. Locke also leaves 13 grandchildren, Keenan, Katherine and Liam Chenail of Williamstown, MA, Michael and Andrew Locke of North Truro, Gabriel Locke of Pittsfield, Joseph, Edward, Elizabeth and Matthew Locke of Nahant and Christopher, Benjamin and Jillian Kirby of Swampscott and two great grandchildren, Sarah and Joseph Edward Jr. of Lynn.

Mr. Locke was buried with military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Locke’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.

Virginia ‘Elaine’ Leto

Saugus resident

Virginia E. “Elaine” (Brown) Leto of Saugus, formerly of East Boston, died on September 25.

She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Leto Sr.; loving mother of Mark Leto of Everett, Elaine “Lanie” Leto of Revere, and the late Debbie Leto; dear stepmother of Joseph Leto Jr. and his wife, Gina, of Woburn; cherished grandmother of Georgia Durbano of Saugus, Jessica Durbano of Lynn, Laini Leto and Alissa Leto, both of Woburn.

A Prayer Service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in The Kirby-Rapino Memorial Home, 917 Bennington St., (Orient Heights), East Boston.
