Everett High Football Team Rolls to Victory in Semifinals

The Everett High football team turned in a superb performance and took home a 46-0 victory over Lynn English in a Division 1A semifinal playoff game Tuesday night at Manning Field in Lynn.
Senior quarterback Jonathan DiBiaso threw touchdown passes to Jalen Felix and Jakarrie Washington. Senior running back Vondell Langston rushed for two scores while Kenny Calaj, Michael White, and Lukas Denis also scored for the Greater Boston League champions.
Calaj opened the scoring with a 12-yard run. DiBiaso’s 9-yard TD pass to Felix and Langston’s 3-yard run propelled Everett to a 21-0 lead after one quarter. Langston raced 26 yards for his second touchdown early in the second quarter.  DiBiaso connected with Washington for a 27-yard TD pass before White’s 1-yard run gave Everett a 40-0 lead at the half.
Denis, Everett’s backup quarterback, completed the scoring in the third quarter on a 22-yard run.
The Everett defense played very well in an impressive shutout of the usually potent Lynn English offense. Desouza and Lubern Figaro had interceptions to provide two of the highlights for the Crimson Tide.
Lynn English head coach Peter Holey, whose team won the Northeastern Conference/ Cape Ann Large Division title with a perfect 5-0 record (9-3 overall), praised the Everett team. “They’re the best team in the state and they showed it tonight,” said Holey. “Everett’s a classy program and they’re well coached.”
Holey reflected on his team’s league championship season. “Our kids have taken us to places we haven’t gone in a long time and I’m proud of the way they conducted themselves,” said Holey. “I’m very proud of our kids, the seniors especially.”
Everett head coach John DiBiaso was pleased with his team’s strong effort on both sides of the ball.
“I’m very proud of the effort – I thought we had a great first half,” said DiBiaso. “Now we have to go home and get ready for this Saturday.”
Everett will play Lincoln-Sudbury in the Super Bowl. Lincoln-Sudbury defeated Barnstable 14-13 in the other Division 1A semifinal.
