Peter Benkus
Retired Electrical Engineer; also worked for Mass Department of Revenue
Peter D. Benkus of Lynnfield died on November 21 after a brief illness. He was 88 years old.
Born in Lynn, the son of the late Peter and Mary H. (Berzalonis) Benkus and the husband of Virginia (Tanso) Benkus with whom he shared 62 years of marriage, he was a US Navy veteran of World War II having served in the Asiatic Pacific. He was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School and Northeastern University and was an electrical engineer for many companies. Before his retirement 20 years ago, he was employed by the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. He played hockey in his younger years and was an avid golfer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Cheryl and her husband, Mark Wells of Stoneham.
