JoAnn Power, a valuable contributor to the Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce’s growth and vibrancy for the past 16 years, is stepping down from her position as the business organization’s communications manager.

Power said she is leaving her position “to start a new chapter in my life.” Colleagues, business people, and friends will salute her outstanding tenure at the LACC with a farewell celebration today at Rolly’s Tavern.

“I’m basically just looking to do something part time and have more time to spend with our kids and family,” said Power. She and her husband, Lynn firefighter Ed Power, have two sons, Eddie, 10, and John, 7.

During her career at the LACC, Power has worked with two chief executive officers, Kevin Donahue and Leslie Gould, the current CEO.

Power has launched a new business venture, Javita Coffee Company, a unique line of gourmet instant coffee that she has brought to the North Shore.

“It’s definitely time for a change and to try to do something else,” said Power. “Being involved in the coffee company will take up some of my time.”

Power lauded her associates at the Chamber, CEO Gould, and membership manager Sandra Lewis.

“We were an amazing team together and it was great working with them all these years,” said Power. “They made work fun. I feel like we’ve accomplished so much together.”

Gould said in a statement, “Working with JoAnn has been a true pleasure and privilege. She has been the hub of the office and an invaluable team player who will be greatly missed.”
