Helen Truszkowski

Of California, formerly of Lynn

Helen A. (Zalenski) Truszkowski, formerly of Lynn, died in Brentwood, California after a long battle with dementia on April 15. She was 95 years old.

The beloved wife of the late Stanley J. Truszkowski, she was born in Lynn on September 29, 1918, the daughter of the late Walenty and Anna (Kopcenska) Zalenski who both had immigrated to the United States from Poland in the early 1900’s

Helen grew up and spent most of her life in Lynn, attended St. Michael’s Grammar School and graduated from Lynn Classical High School in 1936.

After high school, Helen worked as a secretary for the General Electric Company in Lynn and later as a part time sales clerk at what is now Zimman’s Department store on Market Street for many years. She was an active member of St. Michael’s Church involved with the Retirees and the Polish National Alliance Lodge 630 and Sacred Heart Church.

After spending most of her life in Massachusetts, in 2004 she relocated to Tracy, CA and Brentwood, CA to be near her daughters.

Helen enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, knitting, shopping watching her favorite TV shows and being near her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Eileen Wigton of Brentwood, CA, Linda Lucchetti and her husband, Randy of Lincoln, CA, one grandson, Benjamin Wigton and his fiancée, Allison Johnstone of Clayton, CA; three great-grandchildren, Nathan, Chloe and Morgan Wigton, all of Brentwood, CA, several nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Edwin S. Zalenski.

The family wishes to thank the staff of “A Place for Seniors” in Brentwood and Vistas Hospice for the wonderful care and support they provided.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 30 at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 500 Fairview Avenue, Brentwood, CA. Inurnment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lynn to be announced on a later date. Assisting the family with local arrangements is the Nadworny Funeral Home 798 Western Ave., Lynn.
