William ‘Bill’ Genovese

Of West Dennis, formerly of Lynn

William M. “Bill” Genovese of West Dennis, formerly of Lynn, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on May 2.

Born on February 26, 1925 and raised in Winthrop, he was a high school athlete who went on to play baseball for both the University of Syracuse and Amherst College. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and sered in the Pacific Theater during World War II as an 829 navigation officer with the 8th Air Force 316th Bomb Wing. He returned from the war, graduated from Amherst College, married the late Margaret (Howard) and they spent the next 55 years together until her death in 2005.

He is survived by his three sons: William of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Thomas of Harwich and Scott of Dumfries, Virginia and two grandchildren, Christopher and Kyle.
