Lynn Community Television Launches New Programming

By Cary Shuman

Lynn Community Television has been developing new programming out of its temporary headquarters in Room 302 at Lynn City Hall.

Sean Donahue is the director of operations for LCTV. David Riley is a staff producer while Pedro Diaz is the director of program broadcasting.

Mayor Judith Flanagan Kennedy appointed chairman Robert Tucker, treasurer Richard Coppinger, attorneys Michael Marks and Mike Cerulli, and Joseph Carritte to the LCTV board of directors.

“The goals of LCTV programs are to inform, educate, and to provide the people with a voice,” said Donahue. “We have four news and community-centered programs that we hope to be airing on television: the Lynn Community Television Show; the Community Connector; a cultural organization show highlighting Lynn’s diversity; and an events exposure program that will give publicity to non-profit organizations hosting citywide events.”

The station will broadcast City Council meetings live. Donahue said LCTV’s goal is to also videotape various city government committee meetings for broadcast.

LCTV broadcasts on Channels 3 and 22 on Comcast and Channel 37 and 38 on Verizon. Donahue said there are approximately 40,000 cable television subscribers in Lynn.

Tucker said that LCTV is looking for a site in Lynn for a new studio.
