A 16-year old Lynn teen ager, Emmanuel Marrero, was arraigned this week on charges of murder, armed assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, following an early morning party in Chelsea, that erupted into gunfire Sunday morning, March 6.

According to investigators and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office, Marrero allegedly opened fire at a crowded party that was being held in a vacant apartment in a Chelsea building Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Chelsea resident Pablo Villeda, 19, was left dead in the incident and six other young men and women were injured. The other victims all were reported to be recovering.

Marrero was held without bail at the request of Assistant Suffolk District Attorney Julie Higgins of the Suffolk Homicide Unit.

According to Chelsea police, the investigation into the shooting developed eye witness statements, video surveillance footage and telephone records that all point to Marrero as the lone shooter.

“One young man is dead,” Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley said. “and six others, some as young as 15, were nearly killed. Chelsea and State Police detectives took this case extremely seriously, and it’s clear the community did as well. The progress we’ve made so far reflects valuable assistance on the street and in the neighborhood.”

Marrero is expected back in court on Friday, April 8. He will remain in custody until then.”
