State of the City Address Set for July 19

Lynn Community Association will host its 6th Annual State of the City address with Lynn Mayor Judith Flanagan Kennedy on Tuesday, July 19th, 6:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Knights of Columbus, 177 Lynnfield Street, Lynn. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.

Association President Tyron Hawkins said, “This annual event is very important so Lynn citizens can learn first-hand information and also have an opportunity to ask direct questions about their concerns, whether about school performance, potholes, or economic development, etc.”

There will be a question and answer session following the Mayor’s presentation, and light refreshments will be served when the program concludes. Everyone is welcome and there is no charge for admission.

The Association’s mission is to promote pride and ownership in the Lynn community through beautification, education, recreation, and neighborly relationships.

In addition to LCA’s ongoing monthly Lynn Eats Out (LEO), other upcoming events include the 7th Annual Clean Sweep to the Sea later this summer, a tour of the Grand Army of the Republic Museum on September 17th from noon to 3 p.m., as part of the Essex Heritage Trails & Sails. More information can be found at www.lynncommunity.org.

LCA is also producing a video through a grant from  Essex National Heritage, Storytelling, Songs, and Vignettes: Figures from  Lynn’s Past.  The Association is currently enrolling middle and high school students as participants. Lynn Community Television is assisting with the production. Interested teens should visit the website to register online.
